Ellen Verzino

Vice President, Pharmacy

Ellen Verzino, PharmD obtained her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from St. Louis College of Pharmacy in St. Louis, Missouri. She went on to complete both a pharmacy practice residency at Charles Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia and a geriatrics residency at the Veterans Area Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Verzino is a performance-oriented pharmacy operations and clinical leader with diverse experience in managed care within all lines of business including subject matter expertise within Medicare.

Before joining Baylor Scott & White Health Plan, Dr. Verzino held the role of Vice President, Clinical Pharmacy Solutions within the Medicare division at Centene. Here she oversaw the Part D program requirements including formulary creation and submission, prior authorizations and audit readiness along with new plan implementations and Star measure improvements. Prior to that, Dr. Verzino led various teams, including Account Management and Health Technology Assessment within the pharmacy department at Coventry Health Care, now part of Aetna. Responsibilities included pharmacy trend management, integration of pharmacy related to plan acquisitions within the Midwest and South, and supporting Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee activities.

Dr. Verzino has been a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy since 2006. Additionally, she enjoys mentoring pharmacy students along with spending time outdoors.
