Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Baylor Scott & White Health is committed to establishing an inclusive culture and bridging the gaps in healthcare.

Fostering Healthcare Inclusivity through Diversity Councils and Initiatives

Because diversity and inclusion are critical components in providing exceptional care and enhancing health outcomes, we have established Diversity Councils with employees from various departments working together to advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion. We also support Women Leaders in Medicine and provide assistance to veterans and employees with disabilities.

Baylor Scott & White Health also remains focused on closing gaps in care. We recognize that health disparities exist among various populations and are committed to addressing these differences through targeted programs and initiatives. Baylor Scott & White Health offers cultural immersion experiences for clinical pastoral education students to help us better understand the diverse needs of patients. We also offer language services to assist patients with limited English proficiency.

Baylor Scott & White Health has taken a proactive stance in listening, learning and enacting change regarding diversity, equity and inclusion. We routinely hold listening sessions across the system to gain valuable insight into racial biases and inequities. This insight has helped shape the organization’s future when it comes to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

When the COVID-19 pandemic exposed existing health disparities among various populations, we launched various programs and initiatives to support vulnerable populations, such as telehealth services for patients who may not have access to in-person care.

As we strive to fulfill our mission of providing exceptional care and enhancing health outcomes, we look forward to continuing these efforts for the good of our patients, our health plan members, our employees and our communities.
